Internet Service Providers in Turkey: A Guide for Visitors and Expats
Looking for an internet service provider in Turkey? The right answer depends on how long you are staying. A two-week holiday, a three-month work stay and a permanent move all call for different set-ups. This guide explains how the Turkish market is organised, what each kind of provider asks of you, and where a portable WiFi rental fits alongside the big operators.

Who provides internet in Turkey
For most people in Turkey, internet comes from one of two directions: a mobile operator or a home broadband subscription. The names you will see everywhere, on shop fronts, at airports and in shopping malls, are the big operators Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom. They sell mobile lines and data packages, and home internet subscriptions are part of the same market.
These providers are built around residents. Their standard products assume a local contract, identity verification and, for home internet, an address and an installation. That works well if you live in Turkey, but it is a lot of paperwork for a short-term visitor. Mobile lines: prepaid and contract
If you want your own Turkish mobile data, you choose between a prepaid line and a contract.

- Contracts are aimed at residents and come with longer commitments and ID checks.

Home internet for longer stays
Expats, students and remote workers who rent a flat for months often look at fixed home internet. With a traditional provider that usually means signing a contract, proving your identity and waiting for the connection to be set up at your address. Monthly contracts are designed for people who stay put, so they are rarely a fit for a few weeks or for someone who has not found a permanent address yet.
