WiFi rental in Istanbul with hotel and Airbnb delivery

Istanbul stretches across two continents, and where you stay decides what is most convenient. Delivery works to an address on either side of the Bosphorus, so you do not have to cross the city to collect your device:

• European side (Sultanahmet, Beyoğlu, Taksim, Şişli, Beşiktaş): hotel or Airbnb delivery, or pick-up at Istanbul Airport (IST).
• Asian side (Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir): hotel or Airbnb delivery, or pick-up at Sabiha Gökçen (SAW).

When you book hotel delivery, enter the hotel or residence name (or the Airbnb address), your room or flat number and the street, plus the province and district, so the courier finds you easily. The return does not have to happen where the device was delivered: have it collected from your hotel or another address, or return it at IST or SAW on your way home. Please return everything from the box, including the power bank, cable and adapter.

Internet in Istanbul: hotel, café and mobile data

Almost every hotel, hostel and holiday flat in Istanbul has WiFi, but its quality depends on the building. The connection is shared with every guest, so evenings are often the slowest time; signal can be weak on upper floors or in old stone buildings; and some hotels use a login with a code that expires. Café and shopping-centre WiFi is handy for a quick look at a map, but passwords change, speed depends on how many people are connected, and open networks are not the place for online banking or work logins.

For the street, the tram or a ferry you need mobile data: roaming (check your carrier's Turkey rates first), a local SIM (bought with your passport; a foreign phone needs IMEI registration after 120 days), an eSIM for one unlocked phone, or a shared pocket WiFi. Real-world speed varies with signal and how busy the network is, so a crowded square or a tunnel can be slower than an open street.
